Schilling Law handles matters in such diverse areas as higher education, civil fraud (including the defense of False Claims Act matters), and civil rights (including the defense of ADA and Title VII actions). Mr. Schilling also currently serves as the Court-Appointed Independent Monitor charged with overseeing compliance with a remedial order that resolved a federal disability rights lawsuit.
OPEN POSITIONS
ASSOCIATE
Schilling Law is currently seeking a full-time or part-time (80%) Associate (1-4th year preferred) to join our growing New York City office. Attorneys at more senior levels and attorneys seeking more flexible part-time arrangements may also be considered.
Schilling Law LLC strives to practice law at the highest levels of professionalism in complex and sensitive matters for sophisticated, mostly not-for-profit clients such as national universities, while maintaining a collegial and supportive work environment. We provide associates the type of challenging and interesting work often handled by national law firms but with annualized hours expectations well below big law expectations. Federal law clerks who seek the sophisticated practice typical of national law firms without typical "big law" culture, disillusioned big law associates, and DOJ attorneys and AUSAs looking for a change are strongly encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
- J.D.
- Admission to the NY Bar.
- Outstanding academic credentials, such as Law Review or comparable academic recognition or high honors.
- At least 1 year of relevant legal experience, either as a federal law clerk or as a junior Litigation Associate with a national law firm or equivalent.
- Outstanding writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Strong legal research and fact research skills and proficiency in using research tools.
- Ability to work well independently and efficiently.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to use discretion, handle sensitive matters, and maintain strict confidentiality with regard to client information.
Salary & Benefit Details
- Base salary range of $175,000-$215,000 annually (for 1st-4th year), depending on experience level.
- Year-end discretionary bonus, depending upon firm profitability, individual effort, and quality of job performance

SUMMER INTERN/LEGAL ASSISTANT
Schilling Law LLC seeks a Summer Intern/Legal Assistant to join our New York City office for the period June 30-August 22, 2025 (approximate). The Summer Intern would work in our paralegal office assisting the Senior Paralegal and the attorneys by performing substantive and administrative paralegal and legal assistant responsibilities. This is an in-person, full-time (35hrs/week) position, but part-time schedules can also be accommodated for the right candidate. At least 2 years of college required, with graduating college seniors and rising college seniors strongly preferred.
Schilling Law offers a small, collegial environment in which the paralegals are directly involved with every firm matter, have significant case responsibilities, and have direct, daily interaction with all firm attorneys. The firm's practice areas include civil litigation, government investigations, internal investigations, and monitorships. The firm's clients include national universities, other non-profits institutions, and corporations.

Responsibilities
